Each year, in the Spring and Fall, the ABA hosts ReNew events in the five regions of the association in an effort to challenge, encourage and equip church leaders to better serve as agents of the kingdom of God. Although pastors are always welcome, the desire is to have the church boards and non-pastoral church leaders come together for a time of community, collaboration and learning.
In the Fall, the focus is intentionally internal. We seek to address issues of ministry development, strategy, governance and leader development. We listen to church leaders and seek to provide something that helps them lead more effectively within local church situations.
In the Spring, the ReNew focus is external in nature. Here we seek to bring resources and help in addressing the community impact efforts of local ministries. Again we listen to church leaders and seek to bring something that is value-added as we help churches rise to the opportunities God has given.
Each Renew event begins with a meal and then progresses to teaching, conversation around tables and a shared learning and growing experience.
Our hope is that entire church boards and leadership teams will come. We can help each other, learn from each other and become stronger in the effort to advance the kingdom of God in Alberta and the world.
